Disney+’s The Mandalorian Tops November’s Social Wit List

Of all the new shows that bowed across the world in November, Disney+’s The Mandalorian generated the most buzz on Instagram, according to The WIT.

The series debuted on the new streaming service in multiple territories on November 12, garnering 336,000 followers. Its stars Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano have 1.2 million and 842,000 followers, respectively. The live-action sci-fi is set in the Star Wars universe and follows the travails of the Mandalorian, a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

Second in followers with 211,000 is Apple TV+’s Oprah’s Book Club, which the eponymous media mogul, who counts 17.4 million followers of her own, hosts. The show is inspired by the book discussion segment from The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Turkey’s Kuruluş Osman (The Ottoman) premiered to 158,000 followers, featuring popular actors Burak Özçivit (13.6 million followers) and Nurettin Sönmez (569,000). The period drama series is about Osman the First, the father of the Ottoman Empire in the 13th and 14th centuries.

Apple TV+ also holds the fourth spot on the list with The Morning Show, which comes in at 154,000. The series that goes behind the scenes of a morning TV show and explores the unique challenges, egos, ambitions and power plays of the women (and men) who work there. And quite an A-list cast is on the payroll: the series stars and is executive produced by Jennifer Aniston (21.1 million followers) and Reese Witherspoon (20.5 million).

Kanal D’s Azize bowed on November 19 in Turkey, gathering 97,000 followers, with stars Hande Erçel (11.3 million followers) and Bugra Gülsoy (2.3 million) boasting impressive followings of their own. The series sees a woman seek revenge against the powerful Mafia family that killed her mother and father.

The sixth spot on the list goes to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, a mockumentary series that follows a group of students staging a performance of High School Musical for their winter theater production. Starring Sofia Wylie (1.7 million followers), Olivia Rodrigo (1.3 million) and Joshua Bassett (349,000), the Disney+ series collected 74,000 followers of its own.

The third entry from Turkey and seventh overall on the list of most-followed is FOX’s Ferhat ile Şirin (Ferhat and Şirin), a romantic series loosely based on a classic Persian poem from 1180, transposed to Istanbul today. Main actor Tolga Saritas has 4.5 million followers, while his partner on screen, Leyla Tanlar, counts 1.2 million followers.

Apple TV+’s See has 62,000 followers, with star Jason Mamoa boasting 14.2 million of his own. The epic futuristic drama is set 600 years in the future after a virus has decimated humankind and rendered the remaining population blind.

Queen of Drags from Germany’s ProSeiben gathered 52,000 followers, bowing November 14. The reality competition features ten drag stars competing for the title “Queen of Drags,” and features Heidi Klum (6.9 million followers), Bill Kaulitz (624,000) and Conchita Wurst (375,000) as judges.

Rounding out the list is Hulu’s Dollface, which debuted in the U.S. to 44,000 followers. The comedy series is centered on a young woman who, after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend, must metaphorically re-enter the world of women, and rekindle the female friendships she left behind. It stars Shay Mitchell (26.5 million followers) and Kat Dennings (3.3 million followers).
