CBS to Bring Current Popular Programming to U.S. Troops

LOS ANGELES: CBS Studios International has teamed up with the American Forces Network (AFN) to provide U.S. troops with a full night of current programming the day after its initial airing.

CBS and AFN will bring CBS’s Tuesday lineup to troops stationed abroad and at sea. The includes new episodes of hit series NCIS, the spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles and The Good Wife. September 22 marks the first time that AFN has made an entire night of network programming available to troops the next day. Before this, episodes of these three series were available on AFN four to five months after their first U.S. broadcast.

"We are delighted to be able to team up with AFN to bring some of America’s favorite scripted series in the U.S. to the troops the next day," said Armando Nuñez, the president of CBS Studios International. "CBS programming has been hugely popular on AFN and we’re thrilled to speed up the delivery of favorite series such as NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles and The Good Wife to our nation’s heroes."

"Based on the popularity among our troops of these shows, we asked CBS Studios International if we could screen them closer to their original U.S. broadcast," added Larry Marotta, the director of television at American Forces Network. "This extraordinary level of support and cooperation in providing the programming to us the next day will freshen our schedule and make AFN an even more compelling source of entertainment for over one million soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines and their families serving our nation overseas."
