Canada’s Global Lines Up Summer Schedule

TORONTO: The original drama Rookie Blue leads off the summer schedule of Global TV in Canada with a premiere on June 24, along with the new action-comedy The Good Guys, debuting June 7.

Rookie Blue, which is also launching this summer on ABC in the U.S., features Missy Peregrym (Reaper) and Gregory Smith (Everwood). The 13×1-hour series follows the lives of rookie cops who are entering the world of big city policing. Global has also slated the return of Big Brother, back for its 12th season starting July 8. The reality series, shown three times a week, is hosted by Julie Chen.

Back for a third run on June 22 is Wipeout. The obstacle-course competition series will feature all-new themed episodes, with hosts John Anderson and John Henson providing running commentary. In the drama sector, Lie To Me debuts with new episodes on June 7. The show stars Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs) as Dr. Cal Lightman, a deception expert who assists federal law enforcement. Following Lie To Me‘s 8 p.m. lead-in is The Good Guys. The new series follows Jack Bailey, played by Colin Hanks (Orange County), a detective who follows the rules; and Dan Stark, played by Bradley Whitford (The West Wing), an unpredictable cop. Together they work to expose the big picture of small crime.

The fast-paced crime drama In Plain Sight heads into its third season on June 7. The series stars Mary McCormack (The West Wing) as a hard-nosed U.S. Marshall who protects the lives of federal witnesses under siege. Global’s schedule also features the first season of Drop Dead Diva, premiering June 9, and Hawthorne, which kicks off in its first run on the network on June 18.
