Breakthrough to Showcase New TV Movie at DISCOP

TORONTO, June 15: In Budapest next week for DISCOP,
Breakthrough Entertainment will be showcasing Cradle of Lies, the
company’s first TV movie, as well as factual properties, formats and kids’
fare.

The 90-minute film is a production of Blueprint
Entertainment for Lifetime in the U.S. and Global TV in Canada. It is about a
woman who discovers that her dream man will stop at nothing to collect on a
family fortune.

Another highlight of the slate is the Atomic Betty
78×30-minute series and one-hour special. The kids’ animated series has sold to
more than 120 territories. A third season is in the works. Breakthrough is also
showcasing the 16×30-minute Skooled, on offer as a completed show and
as a format, in which teachers and students trade places.

On the factual end, the company will be rolling out
Global Television’s War of the Wheels, recently sold to Discovery Asia;
the 13×30-minute Design Match for HGTV Canada and Fine Living
in the U.S.; and Between the Sheets with Rebecca Rosenblat, which is
also being sold as a format.

“We’ve expanded our production slate considerably
since our last trip to DISCOP and we’re looking forward to unveiling our new
lineup of highly-rated entertaining programs to Central and Eastern European
buyers,” said Tanya Kelen, the company’s head of distribution. Kelen refers to
the Central and Eastern European region as “a significant and growing territory
for Breakthrough.”
