BBC Expects Record Attendance for Brighton Showcase

LONDON, February 20: A
record of more than 560 buyers are expected to attend BBC Showcase, taking
place in Brighton next week, with the boost in numbers attributed to
participation by executives from mobile, VOD and broadband platforms.

BBC Worldwide scored a
number of digital deals over the last year, including agreements with Vodafone,
Orange, T-Online, Telstra, ONO, Netflix, Amazon, Hanaromedia Korea and
Telefónica. BBC Worldwide’s Global TV Sales division says it is on target to
make around £190 million ($370 million) this financial year, up from last
year’s £171 million ($333 million).

Mark Young, the managing
director of BBC Worldwide Global TV Sales, commented: “Traditional television
platforms remain a central part of our business, but there is a great deal of
room to embrace new platforms alongside them. Viewing habits are changing and
our business is changing with them.”

BBC Showcase 2007 will be
held at the Brighton Centre from February 25 to March 1.
