Battlestar Galactica Takes Top TCA Award

LOS ANGELES: In its 25th awards ceremony over the weekend, the Television Critics Association named Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica—which wrapped its final season in March—as the program of the year.

HBO was also a bigger winner at the TCA Awards, scoring three in total: outstanding new program of the year for True Blood; outstanding achievement in movies, mini-series and specials for Grey Gardens; and outstanding achievement in news and information for The Alzheimer’s Project.

The Emmy-winning Mad Man on AMC was honored for outstanding achievement in drama, while another AMC series, Breaking Bad, secured Bryan Cranston a nod for individual achievement in drama. In the comedy category, CBS’s The Big Bang Theory came out on top, scoring the outstanding achievement award as well as individual achievement for Jim Parsons.

Nickelodeon’s Yo Gabba Gabba won the outstanding achievement in children’s programming award. In addition, NBC’s ER took home the Heritage Award while the Career Achievement honor went to Betty White.
