Africa Channel Extends Reach to Jamaica

LOS ANGELES, January 31:
The Africa Channel has entered into an affiliation agreement with Columbus
Communications Jamaica Limited (Flow Jamaica) and will premiere in Jamaica on
Channel 413 on February 1.

Based in the U.S., The Africa Channel showcases Africa’s people, culture, politics,
geography and lifestyle. The channel’s schedule is filled by more than 1,600
hours of original and first-run English-language programming, including news
and information, travel, lifestyle, music, feature films, soaps and special
events. Flagship series include Africa Within, a weekly travel hour; All You Need is Love, a reality series about love and romance in modern
Africa; Africa Journal, a news
and information series produced by Reuters’ team of journalists based in
Nairobi; and Isidingo—The Need, a drama.

Jamaica is the third
Caribbean island that the network has signed an affiliation agreement with in
the past three months—the others are Trinidad and Barbados.

“Our continued growth in
the Caribbean marks an exciting milestone for The Africa Channel,” said Eric
Brown, the channel’s executive VP of affiliate sales. “We are proud to bring
our network to the Jamaican viewers.”

“Flow is very pleased to
have The Africa Channel as part of its lineup,” said Jean McPherson, the

that focuses on African cultural events. We are delighted to bring this channel
to Jamaican viewers.”
