AETN Secures Licensing Deals with Five

NEW YORK/LONDON, May 1:
AETN International has reached a licensing agreement with Five for three hit
series: Ax Men, Ice Road
Truckers
and Intervention.

Under the agreement, Five
licensed Ax Men, which airs on
History in the U.S., and the second season of Ice Road Truckers, after having aired season one of the series with
successful ratings. Five has also taken on the first season of Intervention, a 16×1-hour series that explores the depths of
addition, for FIVER, formerly known as Five Life.

Bethan Corney,
the commissioning editor of factual at Five who was responsible for acquiring
season two of Ice Road Truckers and Ax Men, said: “This deal consolidates a strong and long-standing
relationship between Five, AETN and History. We’re delighted to secure the
second series of Ice Road Truckers. It had a phenomenally successful run this year, regularly
pulling in more than 2 million viewers. Ax Men promises to be a highly entertaining
look into the world of extreme logging and we have no doubt it will be as big a
hit for the channel as Ice Road Truckers.”

“We are very pleased to
have deepened our relationship with Five,” said Jonathan South, the director of
international content sales for EMEA for AETN International. “From the real
dangers faced by truckers driving on the treacherous ice roads in Canada, to
the perils faced by loggers in the Pacific Northwest to the real struggles
faced by addicts and their loved ones, each program vividly captures its subjects
and their personal stories. We are confident that Ax Men will build upon the huge success that Ice Road
Truckers
is having in the U.K.”
