Microsoft Invests in Online Video Provider

AMERICAN FORK, August 26:
Move Networks, a provider of Internet TV services, has received a series C
strategic investment from Microsoft.

The investment—the
amount of which has not been disclosed—follows Move Networks announcing a
plan to work with Microsoft so that its Internet television services work
seamlessly with Microsoft Silverlight, the software giant’s online video
technology. Microsoft Silverlight users can now experience high-quality,
skip-free Internet television programming powered by Move Networks’ streaming
technology. In addition, Move Networks’ customers can use Microsoft Silverlight
to place branding, navigation and interactive elements in and around their
Internet television video streams.

“Microsoft’s Silverlight
technology helps our customers add navigation and branding elements to their
Internet television programming,” said John Edwards, the CEO of Move Networks.
“Our close relationship with Microsoft demonstrates their confidence in our
ability to unlock the tremendous potential of Internet television for
audiences, media owners, advertisers and service providers.”

“Microsoft is excited to
work with Move Networks, and help them raise the bar on the delivery of Internet
television,” added Scott Guthrie, the corporate VP of the developer division at
Microsoft Corp. “Silverlight’s capabilities together with Move Networks’ video
streaming technology offers media companies the ability to deliver a
video-rich, interactive experience for its customers.”
