CBS's Rock Star Band Barred from Using Supernova Name

LOS ANGELES, September 14: The rock band created out of Mark
Burnett’s CBS reality TV show Rock Star: Supernova, which aired its season finale last night, has been
barred from using that name by a federal judge, as a group already exists under
that moniker.

In August, the rock band Supernova, which was formed in
1989, filed for a preliminary injunction to block the band being formed in the
CBS reality show Rock Star: Supernova
from performing or recording under that name. The show culminated last night
with the announcement that contestant Lukas Rossi would front the new band,
consisting of Tommy Lee, Jason Newsted and Gilby Clarke.

Epic Records had planned to release the new band's first two
singles over the Internet today, followed by the debut album in November. The
group is slated to go on tour at the beginning of next year.
