EBS Korea Picks up The Koala Brothers

LONDON,
June, 28: Spellbound Entertainment has announced the sale of 52 episodes of
U.K. preschool series, The Koala Brothers, to the Korean educational station,
EBS.

"The
Koala Brothers is one of the most charming pre-school series on the market,
with great characters and really skillful storytelling,” said Thomas Nam, EBS’s
head of animation. "We are very excited to launch The Koala Brothers on
our network and we anticipate a great reaction from our young audience."

The
stop-motion animation show, revolving around the adventures of brothers Frank
and Buster, was recently acquired by the Disney Channel in Japan and has
already been a hit CBBC in the U.K., Super RTL in Germany, France 5 and TiJi in
France and ABC and Nickelodeon in Australia. Other networks that have taken the
series include Disney Channel US, Discovery Latin America, TVP Poland, TV
Ontario, Knowledge Network, Access and SCN in Canada.

Spellbound
recently signed a deal with Fisher-Price for The Koala Brothers toy license to
expand to cover Europe, Australia and New Zealand and the announcement of Corgi
as the master licensee for die-cast toys. Fisher-Price is already the
master toy licensee for North and South America.

“The Koala Brothers has
all the makings of a classic worldwide brand,” said Peter Curtis, Spellbound’s
joint managing director. “Following the success of The Koala Brothers
with preschoolers in the US and Europe, we are very excited to be working with
EBS in Korea to bring the series to this very important market. I am
delighted that children across Korea will be able to enjoy the series.”
