Nickelodeon Boasts High Cross-Platform Numbers

NEW YORK, June 28:
According to Nielson Media Research, Nickelodeon has secured the top spot as
the number one basic cable network across all kids’ demos at the end of the
second quarter of 2006, for the eleventh consecutive year.

The network posted a 3.8
rating/1.3 million (viewers), up three percent over the second quarter 2005, in
its primary demo of kids 2-11. It was also the only major kid’s network to
achieve gains among the 2-5 demo, with its daytime Nick Jr. block representing
seven of the top 10 preschool programs on commercial television, including: Go,
Diego, Go!
(#1), Dora the
Explorer
(#2), The Wonder Pets (#3), Blue’s Clues (#4), The Backyardigans (#5), LazyTown (#6) and Miss Spider (#7).

The station attributes a
large part of their overall quarter-to-quarter growth to Nickelodeon’s 19th
Annual Kids’ Choice Awards
,
drawing an average of 3.2 million kids, and the Fairly OddParents one-hour special, Fairy Idol, which garnered five million total viewers.

Nickelodeon also saw big
numbers with web and broadband services. Nick.com broadband service, TurboNick,
saw 63.2 million streams second quarter 2006, up 46 percent from the first
quarter of this year. Nick Jr. Parents TV saw a 14 percent increase from first
quarter, generating almost 14.5 million streams while Nick.com averaged some 14
