Ed Talfan, who co-created Hinterland and Hidden, and Hannah Thomas, producer on Hidden, talk to TV Drama’s Anna Carugati about the mood and tone that the landscape in Wales helps to convey.
The Welsh noir genre has been proving its might in the international TV landscape. The detective drama Hinterland (Y Gwyll)—a Fiction Factory co-production with S4C, Tinopolis and all3media international for S4C, BBC Wales and BBC Four—resonated with audiences globally. That was followed up by Hidden (Craith). A Severn Screen production, the series is from creators Mark Andrew and Talfan and director Gareth Bryn, all of whom worked on the award-winning Hinterland. Both series are distributed by all3media international.
Talfan spoke about the nuances of Welsh drama, while Thomas shared her experience of working on a project that was shot in Welsh and English.
