Hidden’s Izabella Scorupco

Polish-Swedish actress Izabella Scorupco talks to TV Drama‘s Kristin Brzoznowski about the nuances of the character she plays in Hidden and the experience of working with multiple directors on the series.

Scorupco stars in Hidden as an investigator who has spent decades caring for the outcasts and homeless, and representing “the hidden ones”—ordinary people who unexpectedly discover that they have supernatural powers.

Hidden marks the first series starring role for Scorupco, who has made a name for herself internationally in feature films such as GoldenEye, Reign of Fire, Vertical Limit and Exorcist: The Beginning. Scorupco was drawn to the role of Viveca Eldh in Hidden after an experience in Berkeley, California, increased her awareness of the varied and tragic circumstances that can lead one to homelessness. Like the homeless, the hidden ones are in need of compassion. And that’s what Scorupco’s character Eldh offers them—along with the lethal protection her boxing training and skills with a crowbar afford.

Based on a novel by Filip Alexanderson, Hidden is represented internationally by Banijay Rights. Yellow Bird is producer of the eight-part series with Tele München Gruppe, Lumière and Banijay. It premiered on the Nordic streaming service Viaplay earlier this month and will subsequently air on TV3 in Sweden.
