DR’s Maria Rørbye Rønn to Receive International Emmy Directorate Award

NEW YORK: Maria Rørbye Rønn, the CEO and director general of Danish Broadcasting Corporation, will receive the 2016 International Emmy Directorate Award.

DR is Denmark’s public-service broadcasting institution. It is credited with pioneering and driving the success of the Nordic Noir drama. Some of its recent hits include Borgen, The Bridge and The Killing.

Rørbye Rønn will accept the honor on November 21 in New York City at the International Emmy Awards.

“Maria Rørbye Rønn spearheads one of the world’s most groundbreaking public service television organizations,” said Bruce L. Paisner, the president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “Now an industry standard for excellence Nordic Noir has become a genre in its own right, influencing screenwriters and inspiring audiences far beyond the Scandinavian Peninsula.”
