Zodiak’s Stars on Stage Gets New Season in Russia

LONDON/MOSCOW, May 8:
Zodiak Television’s Russian business development unit, Zodiak Vostok, has
completed a format deal with First Channel Russia for a new season of Stars
on Stage.

The first season of the
Russian version of the celebrity-based format, called Dve Svezdy, performed well for the channel, and First Channel
Russia has now placed an order for a further 12 episodes to air this spring.
The format has also been sold to Armenia’s Public Television, TVI in Portugal,
RTV Slovenija in Slovenia, ANTV Indonesia, Record TV Network in Brazil, ONT in
Belarus, Inter-TV in Ukraine and Sahara One in India.

Patrick Nebout, the VP of
business development at Zodiak Vostok, commented: “The first season of Stars
on Stage was a major hit in
Russia. The format equally delivered top ratings when later produced in
Ukraine, Belarus and Armenia last year. The Russian prime-time entertainment
battlefield is an extremely competitive and tough one, and this new deal
confirms the attractiveness and strength of Zodiak’s formats in the region.
We’re in talks with leading broadcaster Inter-TV regarding the production of a
second season in Ukraine, and expect to close further post-MIP deals in other
CIS territories soon.”
