NEW YORK: Zander Lurie, the current executive VP and CFO of CBS Interactive, is to take on a set of broader responsibilities under his new role as senior VP of strategic development at CBS Corporation.

Lurie will be placed at the center of CBS’s next-generation content initiatives, including taking on oversight for the company’s efforts to explore authentication and other new methods of distribution and monetization. Lurie will continue on in his current capacity as executive VP and CFO for CBS Interactive as the company looks for a successor, and he will maintain his responsibility for overseeing business development at the group as well. In his new position, Lurie will report to Joseph Ianniello, the executive VP and CFO of CBS Corporation.

"At its core, CBS is an extremely strong content company, and the future of how we distribute that content is among this Company’s biggest opportunities," said Leslie Moonves, the president and CEO of CBS Corporation. "Zander is uniquely qualified to work at the intersection of so many crucial initiatives across CBS and play a key role in our many relationships outside of the Company as well. He was one of the great assets we picked up when we acquired CNET and I look forward to working with him even more closely now as we capitalize on all of the emerging platforms and business models that are on the horizon."

"Growing the revenues we derive from premium video is an integral part of our current strategy, and it will only grow in importance in the future," added Ianniello. "Zander will be at the nexus of our efforts to seek additive methods of distribution for all content. I look forward to the many contributions he will make in this regard."
