WOWtv Scores Thai Content

SINGAPORE, January 23: The Singaporean broadband
entertainment service WOWtv has boosted its offerings with a host of movies
from Thailand.

Beginning this month, WOWtv subscribers will be able to
access a selection of Thai movies on WOWtv’s free and basic tiers. Under the
agreement, WOWtv has the broadband rights to 40 selected Thai movies for two
years. The lineup for the free tier includes the horror films Shutter One and Seven Days in Coffin. The basic tier, meanwhile, delivers Hunch, House of Haunted, Scream
and Ta-Nee, among others.

“Singapore moviegoers are a savvy bunch and we enjoy a wide
range of movies from different genres,” said Michael Toh, the COO of WOWtv.
“There is a demand for Thai movies in Singapore, but existing entertainment
prograe providers are not able to cater to the demands of this niche market.
Hence, our aim is to fill up this gap in the market and become a strong
provider of content in Singapore and around the region. This newly acquired
content is just the tip of the iceberg of more interesting content coming to
our subscribers.”

There is no subscription fee for the free tier and users
will have access to more than 25 channels. The basic tier costs S$40 per year,
with access to 45 channels. WOWtv’s bouquet of entertainment services is
currently available in Singapore, Indonesia and China.
