WordWorld Lands French Slot

CANNES: France 5 Télévision is set to air the series WordWorld in 2010, while France Télévisions Distribution picked up French-speaking rights worldwide for the series covering TV, home entertainment and licensing and merchandising.

The multimedia property helps children learn English as a foreign language by using a narrative built around a wacky troop of WordFriends. The French version of WordWorld integrates English and French languages in speech and text. The show is represented in Europe and Africa by TV-Loonland, and debuted in the U.S. on PBS Kids in September 2007. WordWorld has since expanded globally, now airing in 22 countries.

Don Moody, the creator of WordWorld, said: "We are delighted to be expanding in Europe and France 5 is an important partner for WordWorld given their commitment to quality, educational entertainment. This collaboration should expand usage of WordWorld as the definitive entertaining, English-language learning tool."
