Weakest Link Moves to BBC One

LONDON, January 18: The game show The Weakest Link is moving to BBC One’s daytime schedule from BBC
Two, which is gearing up to launch a host of new afternoon and early evening
shows in the coming weeks.

The new BBC Two shows include Recipe For Success, in which presenter Simon Rimmer gives couples the
chance to live out their dream and run a restaurant, and Britain’s
Dream Homes
, where Melissa Porter and
Rhodri Owen search for the top choices in Britain’s property market.

The Weakest Link has
been airing on BBC Two since 2000. In its move to BBC One, it will continue to
be hosted by Anne Robinson. A BBC Vision production, it is in its ninth series
and is one of the most successful formats ever developed by the BBC, having
been licensed into 42 counties worldwide.

Roly Keating, the acting controller of BBC One and
controller of BBC Two, commented: “The Weakest Link’s transfer to the bigger arena of BBC One testifies
to the enduring originality of the format. It’s always sad to say goodbye to a
much loved show but it also presents an exciting opportunity for BBC Two to
develop new ideas. I’ve no doubt that Anne and the team will thrive in their
new home on BBC One.”
