VIZ Scores Cartoon Network Renewals

SAN FRANCISCO, March 16:
Two of VIZ Media’s anime series, Prince of Tennis and MÄR, have been renewed for a second season on Toonami Jetstream, Cartoon Network’s Saturday-night programming block.

New episodes of Prince
of Tennis
will air at 10 p.m.
(ET/PT) and will be immediately followed by MÄR at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Prince
of Tennis,
which is based on a
successful manga series by Takeshi Konomi published in North America by VIZ
Media, depicts the on-and off-the-court adventures of Ryoma Echizen, who is a
member of his junior high school’s tennis team, known for being one of the most
competitive and formidable teams in Japan. VIZ Media also plans to release a Prince
of Media
DVD box set on April 24.

MÄR, which is based on a popular manga series by
Nobuyuki Anzai also published in North America by VIZ Media, features an
awkward 14-year-old boy named Ginta Toramizu in junior high school who dreams
that he is a hero with all the special abilities he lacks in real life. One
day, a supernatural figure appears at his school and summons him to the world
of his dreams, where he finds that he possesses all the qualities that he had
only dreamed about.
