VIMN’s Nicktoons Lands on MTS in Russia

Nicktoons, part of the Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) portfolio, becomes available this month in Russia exclusively on MTS.

Nicktoons will strengthen VIMN’s kids’ content output in Russia, where subscribers of MTS’s VOD services can now also access Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. programming. It joins a number of other VIMN channels that recently launched on MTS.

In other news, VIMN revealed K-pop MTCamp, a reality entertainment series for MTV Russia that is being made with and exclusively for MTS. The 29×30-minute show will debut in spring 2019. It will end with a 90-minute special following the winners as they travel to South Korea. MTV Russia is also launching the weekly K-pop MTChart Show, hosted by Yuri Pak, which will air in the lead-up to the reality series premiere and run for its duration.

Elena Balmont, the senior VP and general director of VIMN in Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, the Baltics and CIS, commented: “We’re delighted to be taking our partnership with MTS to new heights with a ‘first of its kind’ co-production that is set to redefine how broadcasters and their affiliate partners collaborate in Russia. K-pop music is hugely popular amongst MTV’s youth audience and K-pop MTCamp is a breakthrough project of a scale and scope rarely seen in our region. Our exclusive launch of Nicktoons will bring a raft of quality content to MTS subscribers and will be a unique go-to-market offering. This is an exciting moment in the evolution of Viacom’s business in Russia.”

Yana Churikova, the head of MTV Russia, noted: “The K-pop movement has gained significant momentum in 2018 and K-pop MTCamp will be a celebration of this phenomenal music genre. Giving five lucky winners a chance to travel to the home of K-pop is a dream-come-true prize and this series is sure to enthrall the millions of K-pop fans in Russia.”

Nataliya Glagoleva, the director of marketing communications at MTS, added: “We constantly track young people’s preferences and noted that Korean pop music and culture overall has recently been gaining popularity in Russia. We are pleased that we have the chance to create the first large-scale reality show in Russia dedicated to Korean culture together with MTV Russia.”
