Video Interview: Telescreen’s Sjoerd Raemakers

NEW YORK: Sjoerd Raemakers, the managing director of Telescreen, talks about his hopes for the new property Mia and Me and the benefits the company has derived since joining the m4e group two and a half years ago.

The Dutch kids’ producer and distributor Telescreen has been providing the worldwide market with content for almost three decades, from the much-loved book-based property Miffy to the tween classic Lizzie McGuire to the new live-action/CGI hybrid Mia and Me, slated for a 2012 debut with ZDF and RAI on board. The new show, a co-production of Lucky Punch—a joint venture between Gerhard Hahn and Telescreen parent m4e AG—Rainbow S.p.A. and March Entertainment, is one of Telescreen’s key priorities this year, says Raemakers.

With the backing of its German parent, Telescreen is also continuing to expand its activities and its portfolio. Most recently, m4e announced the acquisition of the back catalogue of the insolvent TV-Loonland. With the deal, Telescreen added some 1,400 episodes to its slate, encompassing such titles as The Cramp Twins and Yvon the Yukon.
