Video Interview: Doll & Em’s Dolly Wells and Emily Mortimer

NEW YORK: Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells, the real-life best friends who wrote and star in the new comedy Doll & Em, discuss the genesis of the show with World Screen in this video interview, which is available with subtitles in Spanish, Mandarin and French.

On Wednesday, March 19, the new comedy Doll & Em makes its debut in the U.S. on HBO. The series is written by and stars the real-life best friends Mortimer (The Newsroom) and Wells (Some Girls). A semi-improvised work, the show explores what happens when a Hollywood actress hires her childhood best friend to be her personal assistant while making a film in Los Angeles. Doll & Em made its debut earlier this month on Sky Living HD, and is being sold around the world by Sky Vision. In this video interview, Mortimer and Wells talk about the genesis of the show, their chemistry as friends and the universal nature of comedy.
