Venevision Highlights L.A. Screenings Slate

MIAMI: Along with its portfolio of telenovelas, Venevision International heads to the L.A. Screenings with teen series to offer buyers, as well as documentaries, variety shows and more.

“This year we are taking an extensive proposal of international appeal to the L.A. Screenings, and at the forefront of this diverse offering are the telenovelas that have made Venevision International a leader of the genre,” said Miguel Dvorak, the president and COO of the Cisneros Group of Companies. “Venevision International continues to evolve and grow, considerably increasing its production of programming through its sister companies, Venevision in Venezuela and Venevision Productions in South Florida, which have invested vast resources in improvements to their infrastructures and production equipment, integrating new technologies and incorporating fresh story lines that are universal.”

Cesar Diaz, the VP of sales at Venevision, commented that his sales team is anxious and excited to present a variety of innovative television programming, including musical and teen series, comedies, talk-shows, and a selection of attractive documentaries, in addition to the successful telenovelas. “Taking into consideration that the economic state of many Ibero-American markets are giving signs of improvement, we expect the L.A. Screenings to produce a number of business opportunities for our ample catalogue.”

On the telenovela roster are A Woman’s Sacrifice, Salvador: A Knockout Lover, Recipe for a Family Feud, Sinner and Millionaire Maid. Further novela highlights include Kandela, A Husband for Estela, Mysteries of Love, Untamed Soul and For a Lifetime. Rounding out the novela offerings are An Unlikely Countess, Never Too Late, Valeria, Torrent of Passions, Poor Millionaire and Love Contract.

For the teen audience, Extreme Hearts is reminiscent of the classic Romeo and Juliet story, while Urban Love—which has two seasons available—uses the rhythm of Reggeaton to bring together two opposite worlds. Also on the teen slate is The High School Nerd. The musical series You and Me: A New Day brings to life the ’50s.

Bet You’ll Laugh is a reality game show. The series Animal Atlas features informative and culturally relevant information on the animal world. I Need a Friend is part talk show, part drama series, as true stories are reenacted by actors. Venevision has a lineup of formats as well, covering dramas, talk shows, game shows and telenovela scripts. There’s also the Platinum Documentary Series, which features 16 hand-picked doc titles. Venevision also supplies premium programing from Mega TV, including 22 minutos, Pronosticos and Maria Elvira Live. Topping off Venevision’s highlights are the series Time Compass, which revisits history, and the variety show The Impossibles, in which celebrities sit down with renowned Venezuelan writer Leonardo Padron each week.
