USA Opts for Common Law

LOS ANGELES: USA Network has given a cast-contingent greenlight to a pilot for Common Law, a comedic buddy cop show.

From CBS Television Studios and Junction Entertainment, the pilot is being executive produced and written by Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, whose credits include National Treasure, National Treasure: Book of Secrets and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. Also on board as EP is Jon Turteltaub. The show focuses on two cops, once a dream team who now can’t stand each other and are set to couples therapy.

"If you’re going to do a cop show, it better be something special—and we believe this one is," said Jeff Wachtel, executive VP pf original programming at USA and co-head of original content at Universal Cable Productions. "It’s funny, it’s fresh, and the writing is just fantastic. We’re thrilled to be working with the Wibberleys and Jon."
