Univision Adds Content to YouTube

NEW YORK: Short- and long-form content from Univision Communications’ three networks will be available on YouTube beginning today, with Kraft Foods as the exclusive launch sponsor of the new online channel.

Univision Interactive Media is making videos of top Univision, TeleFutura and Galavisión shows available to YouTube’s U.S. users at www.youtube.com/univision. “This launch is a very important milestone for our company, as it represents the first time that Univision programming is being made available anywhere on the web beyond Univision.com in both short- and long-form format,” said Kevin Conroy, the president of Univision Interactive Media. “The new Univision channel on YouTube extends our reach, enables us to bring Univision’s quality programming to a broader audience, and reinforces our position as the leading Spanish-language video provider for U.S. Hispanics.”

Chris Maxcy, the director of content partnerships at YouTube, added: “The Spanish-speaking American audience is a rapidly growing demographic in the online world. Being able to provide some of the best, premium Spanish-language shows to our users is a big win for both YouTube and Univision.”

Featured shows on YouTube include Univision’s morning show Despierta América, the news magazine Primer Impacto, the weekly drama Mujeres Asesinas and talk show Don Francisco Presenta; TeleFutura’s Escándalo TV and Galavisión’s Decorando Contigo. The Univision YouTube channel will also feature weekly show recaps of key shows like Noticiero Univision and El Gordo y La Flaca.
