NEW YORK: Nickelodeon has given a second-season order to its own version of House of Anubis, adapted from the Studio100 telenovela-style series that was first produced for its sister channels in Belgium and the Netherlands.

This month, production on 45 new half-hours kicks off in Liverpool, for broadcast Mondays to Fridays in 2012. The show follows a group of students who uncover hidden mysteries at an English boarding school. The show originated as Het Huis Anubis for the Dutch and Belgian Nickelodeon feeds, before being adapted for Nick Germany and then picked up for a U.S. adaptation which premiered earlier this year, delivering an average of 2.9 million total viewers for its first season.

Announcing the renewal, Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon’s president of development and original programming, commented, "We’re upping the ante from season one of House of Anubis, to bring fresh, spine-tingling episodes to our audience who thoroughly embraced this new genre for Nick. Fans can expect even more mystery, comedy and adventure balanced with universal teen issues from this re-imagined daily series that originated from one of our sister networks in Europe."
