U.S. Digital Switchover Delayed

WASHINGTON, D.C.: The U.S. Senate has voted to delay the transition to all digital TV until June 12 due to the lack of preparedness for the analogue switch-off.

A host of consumer groups and politicians have been lobbying for a delay in the cut-off date because the federal program to subsidize digital equipment ran out of funding. The government has reported a waiting list of 1.4 million households. Last week, data from Nielsen revealed that 5.7 percent of American households—some 6.5 million homes—were still unprepared.
