U.K., Netherlands Take International News Emmys

NEW YORK, September 26: Sky News’s coverage of last year’s London
bombings and a special from the Netherlands on a platoon of U.S. soldiers in
Afghanistan have picked up International Emmys in the news category.

London Bombings July 7th, 2005, Sky News’s live coverage of the terrorist bombings in London, won the
International Emmy Award for Breaking News. Hunting for Taliban, produced by NOVA/NPS/VARA Television, won the
International Emmy Award for Continuing News Coverage.

The International Emmys were presented to the winners by
Bruce L. Paisner, the president and CEO of the International Academy of
Television Arts & Sciences; and Fred Cohen, the chairman of the Academy,
during a black-tie event in New York City yesterday.

“Television journalists are risking their lives more and
more to get the story and bring the news to the television screen,” said
Paisner, who is also the president of Hearst Entertainment. “The International
Academy is proud to be saluting these professionals for their outstanding
work.”

Nominees for nine other International Emmy Awards categories
will be announced October 9 at MIPCOM.
Winners will receive their awards at the 34th International Emmy Awards
Gala on November 20 in New York City.
