U.K. and Canadian Deals on Sparky’s Mr. Moon

SINGAPORE/LONDON: Playhouse Disney U.K. and TVO, Knowledge Network and SCN in Canada have picked up the rights to Mr. Moon, a new animated series from Sparky Animation.

The series is produced by Sparky in association with Skaramoosh in the U.K. and Title Entertainment in Canada, with support from the Media Development Authority of Singapore.

The show is adapted from a children’s book property of the same name by English writer illustrator Kate Veale. Playhouse Disney UK is slated to launch the series in 2010. Jonathan Boseley, the VP of programming at Disney Channels UK & Ireland, said of the show: "We’re sure it will delight preschoolers and their parents. Following the channel’s continued success we’re looking to expand our U.K. acquisitions with hit shows like Mr. Moon that engage and inspire preschoolers with great storytelling and characters.”

Sparky’s co-CEO Jyotirmoy Saha, added: “Playhouse Disney is a perfect home for the series. With Mr. Moon, our preschool lineup is further strengthened after the success of Dinosaur Train, co-produced with The Jim Henson Company. Sparky will be showcasing Mr. Moon at MIP Junior.
