YouTube Redesign Promotes Video Channels

SAN BRUNO: YouTube has done a major revamp to its website, which now emphasizes "channels" of content rather than single videos.

Last month the service announced a slew of new partnerships with content providers to create 100 video channels with original programming. The redesign, the largest in YouTube’s history, highlights channels, encouraging users to watch multiple videos on the same channel and/or surf between similar channels. The functionality focuses on helping users find and organize channels they’re subscribed to. Users can browse for channels by category, which spans fashion and beauty, music and more.

"Today we’re introducing a new homepage, Channel design and a fresh coat of digital paint," YouTube wrote on its blog.

"More and more, behind every great video is a great Channel, and with our announcement last month that more of them are coming to YouTube, we want to make it easier for you to find and keep tabs of what you want to watch."
