SUNNYVALE: Yahoo has shuttered its streaming service Yahoo Screen, which last year aired the sixth season of the cult series Community after picking it up from NBC.

The digital hub also premiered the sci-fi comedy Other Space and the scripted sports series Sin City Saints. Yahoo’s video property will now be shifted to the company’s various online magazines.

Yahoo Screen launched two years ago, nabbing Community after NBC canceled the Dan Harmon-created comedy. However, the video division lost $42 million last year, with the company’s CFO blaming Community for failing to net advertising cash.

“At Yahoo, we’re constantly reviewing and iterating on our products as we strive to create the best user experience,” Yahoo said through a spokesperson. “With that in mind, video content from Yahoo as well as our partners has been transitioned from Yahoo Screen to our Digital Magazine properties so users can discover complementary content in one place.”
