UNIVERSAL CITY: NBC has cancelled the freshman comedy Animal Practice, which will be replaced in its Wednesday 8 p.m. slot by Whitney.

Whitney returns to the NBC lineup in its second season on November 14. The show stars comedian Whitney Cummings in the title role. It is produced by Universal Television and Bluegrass Television. The story follows the modern-day relationship of a newly married couple—Cummings (Chelsea Lately) and Chris D’Elia (Glory Daze)—and their quirky group of friends. Starring alongside Cummings and D’Elia are Zoe Lister-Jones (The Other Guys), Rhea Seehorn (The Starter Wife) and Dan O’Brien (How I Met Your Mother). Tone Bell is a newcomer for the series’ second season.
