MEMPHIS/CHICAGO: Vivicast Media has signed on to serve as the U.S. representative for the satirical news mockumentary show WTF NewsAmerica, created and scripted by Saturday Night Live and Second City TV writing alums.

WTF NewsAmerica is an original comedy staple for Chicago’s WCIU-TV, which broadcast the series in summer 2016. Each week, the show presents stories about current political events in a satirical manner with a Libertarian slant. The series offers an accompanying online component that is updated daily.

WTF NewsAmerica was created and directed by Mark Vadik (Cyrus, The Thirsting, A Chance in the World, Shut Up & Dance), who also serves as a writer. The head writer is Nate Herman (SNL, Second City Theater, Second City Headline News).

“We are extremely pleased to represent WTF NewsAmerica to the U.S. market,” said Stuart Smitherman, the president of Vivicast Media. “Having performed brilliantly in a top U.S. market, we are excited to roll the series out nationally.”

Vadik added, “Vivicast Media has become a go-to distribution home for the independent production community, and we are thrilled to join forces with this extraordinary company. The team at Vivicast immediately recognized how the local proven performance of WTF NewsAmerica can be expanded into a national success story and we look forward to launching the series on a national platform.”
