Universal TV Ups Pair of Comedy Development Execs

For its comedy development team, Universal Television has elevated Jim Donnelly to executive VP and Dan Shear to senior VP.

Donnelly was first hired by Universal Television as senior VP of comedy development in 2015. Shear joined the company as VP of comedy development the year before that. Together, they have developed such hit series as NBC’s The Good Place, A.P. Bio and Superstore, to name a few.

“The talent level at our studio is second to none and the promotions of Jim and Dan are reflective of the work they have done to help get us to where we are today,” said Pearlena Igbokwe, the president of Universal Television. “Our development team has set an industry standard and looking at our array of broadcast, cable and streaming partners, the industry agrees.
