LONDON: ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has secured a U.S. slot for the comedy Schitt’s Creek with the cable network POP, which is rebranding from TVGN.

POP is owned by CBS Corporation and Lionsgate. It has a footprint of more than 80 million homes in the U.S. Schitt’s Creek becomes the first-ever original scripted comedy series for POP.

Commissioning broadcaster CBC in Canada debuts the show on January 13, 2015. The series was created by and stars Eugene and Dan Levy.

Greg Johnson, the executive VP of distribution for the Americas at ITVS GE, said: “In Schitt’s Creek, Eugene and Daniel Levy have created a hugely entertaining riches to rags comedy which stems from comic but relatable characters dealing with real-life situations. We’re delighted to have POP on board and with the interest that the series has already attracted from a broad international audience at MIPCOM.”
