TORONTO/LOS ANGELES: Tricon Films & Television is building on its U.S. business with the appointment of Boyd McDonnell as the senior VP of programming, a new position that sees him taking on oversight for the company's syndication initiatives.

Boyd will be leveraging the company's development and production capabilities to generate new partnerships and develop content for U.S. syndication. He will also be working closely with the international distribution group to secure new syndication opportunities for the existing catalogue. McDonnell is based in the company's L.A. office, reporting to Andrea Gorfolova, the president of Tricon.

Gorfolova commented: "Creating opportunities in the syndication market adds further expansion of our global distribution reach on all platforms. One of Tricon's strengths is utilizing alternative financing models through our international relationships in development and production, and the value in the syndication market has increased significantly towards this strategy.  We are very excited to have Boyd build this area of Tricon's business."
