NEW YORK: Showtime Networks has upped Tom Christie to president of distribution, business development and network operations, a newly created position.

Christie, who has been with the network for more than two decades, has served as the executive VP of affiliate sales since 2006. Prior to that he held such titles as executive VP of sales and affiliate marketing for Sundance Channel and VP of national accounts for the western region at Showtime Networks.

In his new role, Christie will continue to manage the company’s affiliate sales team. Beginning in the new year, he will supervise the planning and execution of future strategies, new business ventures and broadcast operations.

Christie’s promotion comes on the heels of a restructuring of a number of Showtime’s business units. Jerry Scro, the company’s executive VP and chief financial officer announced his retirement and David Nevins, the company’s president of entertainment, has become a liaison to CBS Corporation’s international and domestic distribution groups.

"Tom Christie is one of the great distribution executives in on our industry," said Matthew C. Blank, the chairman and CEO of Showtime Networks. "The emergence of new technologies and new distributor platforms offers both great opportunities and challenges for our networks, as we continue to build upon our success for many years to come. I couldn’t be more pleased that we have so many talented individuals among us to help lead what has become a legacy of innovation and great success at Showtime."
