TLC Hires West Coast Production & Development SVP

LOS ANGELES: TLC has appointed Sandy Varo Jarrell as its senior VP of production and development for the West Coast, effective November 12.

In the newly created post, Varo Jarrell will be responsible for supervising the strategic direction and storytelling tone of new and existing projects that are developed and produced in the West Coast office. She will work out of Los Angeles under Nancy Daniels, the network's general manager.

Varo Jarrell previously served as the head of unscripted programming and development at ABC Family. Before that she was the VP of reality programming and development at Lifetime and director of reality programming and development at CBS Entertainment.

Daniels stated: "Sandy has a long and rich history of producing compelling, high-quality programming across a variety of networks and genres. Having had the opportunity to work with her before, I know she will be a valuable new member of the TLC team, and continue to bring our audience the strong characters and remarkable stories they tune in for day after day."

TLC has also named Howard Lee as its executive VP of development and production for the East Coast.
