Time Warner Cable Loses Subs in Q3

NEW YORK: Time Warner Cable lost 306,000 video subscribers in Q3 following its protracted dispute with CBS, while also seeing erosion in its data and voice customer bases.

As of September 30, 2013, the company had 11.4 million video customers, down from 11.7 million on June 30. High-speed data customers fell by 24,000 to 11.05 million and voice customers were down 128,000 to 4.8 million. While its base of single-play customers rose, the triple-play base was down 144,000 to 4 million. At the end of the quarter, the cable platform had 15.07 million customer relationships.

Despite the subscriber losses, revenues in the period were up 2.9 percent to $5.5 billion, with video revenues down 4.5 percent but high-speed data revenues rising 14.2 percent. ARPU was up 1.9 percent to $105.06. Net income fell 34.2 percent to $532 million.
