The CW Buys TANDEM’s Labyrinth, Plans Veronica Mars Digital Spin-Off

PASADENA: The CW has acquired the event mini-series Labyrinth, a TANDEM Communications production, and has also announced a digital spin-off series for Veronica Mars and two new shows for its reality slate.

The four-hour Labyrinth was filmed on location in the medieval town of Carcassonne in southwest France and Cape Town, South Africa. The series is an adaption of Kate Mosse’s New York Times besteller and multi-million selling international hit novel of the same title. Labyrinth is produced by TANDEM (Crossing Lines, World Without End, The Pillars of the Earth) and Film Afrika Worldwide (Dark Tide, Endgame), in association with Scott Free Films (The Good Wife, The Andromeda Strain) and Universal Production Partners (UPP).

During its TCA presentation, The CW also announced that there is a digital spin-off currently in development of the cult hit Veronica Mars. The CW added two new reality series to its schedule as well: Barber Battle and Penn & Teller: Fool Us. The ten-episode Barber Battle will visit different barbershops across the U.S. and the most talented barbers will compete to showcase their artistic designs. Cedric the Entertainer serves as host. Penn & Teller: Fool Us sees aspiring magicians performing their best tricks to try to fool the world-famous Penn and Teller. It was created and produced by 117 Productions and September Films for ITV.
