TBS & TNT Reorganize Original Programming Group

ATLANTA: Three executives within the TNT and TBS original programming group are shifting to new roles, including Lillah McCarthy taking over responsibility for the networks’ in-house production company.

McCarthy moves to the post of senior VP of TNT and TBS Original Productions. She most recently served as senior VP of original programming for both networks.

Brett Weitz has been elevated to senior VP of scripted development for TNT and TBS. Weitz, who transitions to the role after serving as the VP of development for TNT, will continue to oversee scripted development for the network, but adds oversight for TBS.

Kathy Busby is taking on the new role of VP of TNT and TBS Original Productions, reporting to McCarthy. Busby moves to the post after having served as VP of comedy development for TBS.

Yesterday, TBS and TNT announced David Eilenberg being named senior VP of unscripted development.

All four of the execs are based in Los Angeles. McCarthy, Weitz and Eilenberg report to Michael Wright, the president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies.

"With an increased emphasis on building up our in-house production arm, we needed an executive who could bring true experience and great taste to the task," said Wright. "Lillah McCarthy has been a powerful force behind some of our most popular original series, making her an ideal choice to head up TBS and TNT Original Productions, an important and growing part of our business.

"Brett is a truly talented executive whose programming taste and relationships within the creative community have been instrumental in TNT’s scripted success over the past few years," Wright continued. "He was a key contributor to the development of returning TNT hits Franklin & Bash and Rizzoli & Isles, and he helped shape the new series Perception and Monday Mornings, as well as our new reality-competition series The Great Escape and 72 Hours. It’s little wonder he was included this year on Multichannel News’ ’40 Under 40′ list of up-and-coming television executives."

Wright continued, "With Kathy Busby joining Lillah at TNT and TBS Original Productions, we have a truly dynamic executive team leading our in-house production unit."
