TBS Adds Unscripted CeeLo Green Show & Comedy to Lineup

ATLANTA: TBS has greenlit The CeeLo Life (working title) and Ground Floor, a new unscripted series and workplace sitcom, respectively.

The network ordered a half dozen episodes of The CeeLo Life, which focuses on Grammy-winning recording artist CeeLo Green. The show will watch as Green reunites with the hip-hop group Goodie MOB. Co-produced by Emerald TV Productions and Rogue Atlas, The CeeLo Life is slated to begin airing next year.

"With his distinctive voice, winning personality and remarkable ability to tap into a wide range of musical styles, CeeLo Green has risen to the top of the music industry," said Michael Wright, the president and head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). "This new TBS series will give viewers the chance to get to know CeeLo Green, who is without a doubt one of the hardest working men in show business. The CeeLo Life is certain to be a smart, fun and funny journey packed with a lot of great music."

"On behalf of Emerald, we are honored for this opportunity to entertain and extend the life of a long legacy of classic programming at TBS—which in our book stands for The Best Station," added CeeLo. "Atlanta, your native sons, the Goodie Mob, will make us all proud."

TBS has also given the go-ahead to Ground Floor, a ten-episode comedy penned by Bill Lawrence (Cougar Town) and Greg Malins (2 Broke Girls). With a cast led by Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect), Briga Heelan (Cougar Town) and John C. McGinley (Scrubs), the program is about a young banker who finds out that a woman he had a romantic encounter with works for the maintenance department in his company’s building. The show is being produced by Lawrence’s Doozer, in collaboration with Warner Horizon Television, and is set to premiere in 2014.

"Ground Floor is a smart and extremely funny comedy that blends workplace humor with relatable romantic entanglements," noted Wright. "It’s all brought together by a wonderful ensemble. With Ground Floor, we’re thrilled to be extending our creative partnership with Cougar Town‘s Bill Lawrence."
