Superstore Returns for Season Two on NBC

UNIVERSAL CITY: NBC has ordered a sophomore season of the America Ferrera-fronted comedy series Superstore.

The show is set in a big-box retail megastore and follows Amy (Ferrera) as a stalwart employee and new-hire Jonah (Ben Feldman), who is determined to show everyone that work doesn’t have to be boring. They, along with their associates, take on bargain hunters, riot-causing sales and dull training sessions each day.

Season to date, Superstore is averaging a 2.1 rating with adults 18 to 49 and 6.9 million viewers overall in live-plus-seven-day results from Nielsen Media Research, making it NBC’s highest rated first-year comedy in two years.

“We’re thrilled to renew a show that’s incredibly funny and relatable, full of great characters brought to life by this incredible cast, writers and producers,” said Jennifer Salke, the president of NBC Entertainment. “After such a successful first season, we look forward to seeing more of the wonderful America Ferrera, Ben Feldman and the rest of this hilarious cast in season two.”

Superstore was created and written by Justin Spitzer, who also serves as an executive producer with director Ruben Fleischer, David Bernad, Gabe Miller and Jonathan Green. Superstore is produced by Universal Television, Spitzer Holding Company and The District.
