Spike TV Plans Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles

NEW YORK: A bevy of comedic luminaries are on board to headline Spike TV's One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles, among them David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld and Tracy Morgan.

The 90-minute special is being taped at the Apollo Theater in New York City on May 6. The production, which is being done in conjunction with Don Mischer Productions, is set to air on Spike TV on May 28 at 9 p.m.

The tribute will feature, among others, Jon Stewart, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Jimmy Kimmel, John Stamos, Bob Newhart, Regis Philbin, Ray Romano and Brad Garrett. It will feature stand-up performances, short films and pre-taped tributes and personal stories from Rickles' closest friends, co-stars and comedians he has influenced. The evening will wrap with Rickles getting the chance to address those in attendance.

"We're thrilled that David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Robert De Niro and so many more will be coming out to entertain and celebrate our hero—Don Rickles," said Casey Patterson, the executive producer and executive VP of event production and talent development at the Viacom Entertainment Group. "The genius of Rickles is in the danger, nobody is safe, and what you can expect is a night of comedy from these superstars worthy of a legend. It truly will be One Night Only."
