DALLAS: Southwest Airlines has launched a new onboard entertainment service featuring curated music programming on its wifi-enabled flights in partnership with Apple and its new unit Beats Music.

Titled Beats Music, the service is compatible with iOS and Android, as well as most web browsers. Aircraft passengers will have the chance to stream the wide-ranging playlists through the Southwest entertainment portal, which is powered by Global Eagle Entertainment. Featured genres include pop, rock, country and more, along with a continuous playlist customized to individual passengers’ preferences.

“Southwest connects our customers to what is important in their lives, and in this case, it’s music,” said Kevin Krone, the chief marketing officer for Southwest Airlines. “We continue to enhance our onboard offerings to remain current as our customers’ needs evolve, and with the addition of Beats Music on our entertainment portal, we’re doing just that.”
