NEW YORK: Gene Stein has become the new CEO of Sonar Entertainment, succeeding Stewart Till.

Stein was previously the president of television at BermanBraun. He is currently executive producing the series Dig for USA Network, created by Tim Kring (Heroes) and Gideon Raff (Homeland).

Till had been a member of the RHI Entertainment board of directors before he was named co-interim CEO in July 2011. He took on the permanent CEO role in 2012, when RHI rebranded as Sonar. Till returns to the Sonar board of directors.

“Sonar continues to strengthen its brand identity as a leading global producer and supplier of outstanding series, miniseries and television movies,” said Gabriel de Alba, the chairman of the board of directors for Sonar Entertainment. “Gene Stein is a dynamic and inspiring executive who has the vision, the leadership skills and the relationships within the creative community to take the company to the next level.”

“I’m tremendously excited for this opportunity,” added Stein. “It’s a chance to apply my passion for series television to an entire company’s culture and to extend Sonar’s profile in the Hollywood community and throughout the world.”

“Under Stewart’s leadership, Sonar has become stronger and more competitive and clearly poised for success,” commented de Alba. “We thank him for his service and we look forward to continuing to work with him as an invaluable member of the board.”
