Showtime Picks Up Steve Coogan Series, Unveils Twin Peaks Details & More

LOS ANGELES: Showtime has picked up the new series Happyish, starring Steve Coogan, Kathryn Hahn and Bradley Whitford, along with making several other announcements, including that Kyle MacLachlan will return to star in the network's Twin Peaks limited series.

Happyish was created, written and executive produced by The American Life contributor Shalom Auslander. Emmy Award nominee Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You, A Walk In The Woods) will executive produce and direct the pilot. The show is slated to premiere on Showtime on April 26 at 9 p.m., to be followed by the premiere of the second season of the drama Penny Dreadful.

Showtime is reviving Twin Peaks for a 2016 premiere. The limited series will be written by David Lynch and Mark Frost and directed by Lynch. Showtime has now revealed that Golden Globe winner Kyle MacLachlan will reprise his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper when the show returns.

The network has also renewed Shameless for a 12-episode sixth season. The next installment will head into production later this year, to air in early 2016.
