BURBANK: John Hesling has left BBC Worldwide Productions Los Angeles to become the senior VP of programming for Shed Media US.

In his newly created post, Hesling will work under Pam Healey, the general manager of Shed Media US. He will be charged with supervising all programming for the company, which is the American production unit of Shed Media Group in the U.K.

While at BBC Worldwide Productions Los Angeles, Hesling executive produced History Channel's Top Gear, which he launched in the U.S. in 2010. Before that, he was the senior VP of programming for BBC Worldwide Los Angeles, where he created new unscripted shows for the U.S. and adapted hit BBC formats.

Healey commented: "Shed Media aims to continue to build on its strong presence in unscripted with formats and character-driven programming for both broadcast and cable. John brings an incredible wealth of experience as both a showrunner and an executive, and has the respect of the creative community. His masterful abilities as a storyteller across a variety of genres—from entertainment to male-skewing programming—have allowed him to successfully adapt many international formats here in the U.S. John's skills and relationships perfectly complement the talented team here at Shed, and I am so excited to be working with him."
